In Montelupo, culinary tradition is an integral part of the town’s culture, and visiting some of these places is an unmissable opportunity to discover this side of its history.
Local cuisine is characterized by simple dishes, made with genuine products that come straight from Montelupo’s earth. Pairing our traditional dishes with specific local wines is also a must: it will enhance the flavors for which the town’s cuisine is known and appreciated.
Wine-making tradition also has ancient roots, as evidenced by the archaeological finds of the Roman Villa of Virginio.
TENUTA SAN VITO
A beautiful estate in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini hills, where you can take guided tours of the farm, the winery, and the oil mill, also available in English. Upon request, you can partake in tasting experiences of all the organic products of the company: Chianti DOCG, IGT, Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Vin Santo and Grappa.

FATTORIA DI PETROGNANO
The Fattoria di Petrognano, owned by the Pellegrini family, is located in the municipality of Montelupo Fiorentino (FI) and it spans 85 hectares in the Chianti region, with about 25 hectares dedicated to viniculture. The company has chosen to focus on local grape varieties, such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano Toscano, and Canaiolo, while the so-called international varieties have been uprooted, except for 2 hectares that are split between Merlot and Syrah, still cultivated for their peculiar quality.
The company’s products are certified organic and vegan. Additionally, within the company’s property, extra virgin olive oil, honey, and lavender are produced.

FATTORIA POGGIO CAPPONI
Built at the end of the 1400s, Fattoria Poggio Capponi is completely surrounded by nature, overlooking a breathtaking and fascinating landscape of vineyards, olive trees, wheat, and cypresses.
The agriturismo offers the opportunity to partecipate to tours that include visits to the winery, in both English and French, and wine tastings.

– Basic wine tasting (3 wines and a sampling of various crostini): €10 per person.
– Wine tasting (from 4 to 7 wines): €18 per person.

FATTORIA DI SAMMONTANA
The Fattoria di Sammontana, once owned by the Medici family, now boasts quality wine and oil production, thanks to the choice to follow organic and biodynamic criteria, with the goal to fully preserve local traditions and enological secrets.
